What Symptoms Can a Menopause Coach Help With?

When women first reach out to me, they usually think they’re hiring me to help with one thing.

Weight gain.

And yes, that may be part of it but it’s almost never the whole story.

Most women who come to me are dealing with a cluster of symptoms that suddenly seem to show up all at once, often during perimenopause or early menopause. They might say things like:

  • “Is it perimenopause or am I just burnt out?”
  • “I feel exhausted all the time.”
  • “I don’t recognize my body anymore.”
  • “My moods feel all over the place.”
  • “Nothing that used to work is working now.”
  • “I feel lost when it comes to nutrition.”
  • “I feel weak compared to how I used to feel.”

Often they’re also overwhelmed by information. One expert says to fast. Another says to eat more protein. Another says to do more cardio. Another says to lift weights.

It’s a lot.

What women often need most is someone who can help them make sense of it all and create a realistic path forward.

The Symptoms Women Usually Come To Me For

When women start coaching with me, the most common concerns tend to include:

  • Weight gain or body composition changes
  • Low energy and constant fatigue
  • Mood swings or irritability
  • Poor sleep
  • Feeling weaker than they used to
  • Confusion about what to eat
  • Feeling overwhelmed by conflicting health advice

What’s encouraging is that when we start working together, many of these things improve at the same time.

Women often notice:

  • More stable energy throughout the day
  • Better sleep
  • Increased strength and physical confidence
  • More clarity around nutrition
  • Greater mood stability
  • A sense that they are back in control of their health

But here’s the part that surprises many of my clients.

The Biggest “Aha” Moment: Small Habits Matter More Than Extreme Plans

Many women assume they need to completely overhaul their lives to feel better.

Instead, they discover that small, consistent habits add up to powerful change.

Nutrition is a great example.

Women often think nutrition only affects weight. But when we start working on consistent fueling, balanced meals, and blood sugar stability, they often notice improvements in:

  • energy
  • mood
  • sleep
  • stress resilience

One of my clients, Leslie, had a moment that really stuck with me. After working on stabilizing her nutrition and reducing the sugar rollercoaster, she told me something surprising.

She realized that a coworker who used to drive her crazy… didn’t bother her anymore.

Her sleep improved. Her stress response improved. Her moods stabilized.

Nothing about the coworker changed.

Her physiology did.

Strength Training Looks Different in Midlife

Another misconception is that getting stronger requires punishing workouts.

Many of my clients are surprised to learn that strength comes from consistent training, not extreme training.

It’s not about going harder and harder.

It’s about showing up regularly, progressing gradually, and supporting the body with proper nutrition and recovery.

When women shift into this mindset, they often feel stronger and more capable than they have in years.

When Doing “Everything Right” Is Actually the Problem

Sometimes the issue isn’t doing too little.

It’s doing too much.

One client, Holly, came to me feeling completely hopeless. She felt like she had tried everything.

She would swing between very strict routines, aggressive workouts and eating only about 1100 calories a day and then inevitably rebound when it became unsustainable.

When I suggested softening her routine, she was terrified she would gain weight.

But over the course of 12 weeks something interesting happened.

She started eating more consistently.
Her stress levels dropped.
Her workouts became less frequent but more intentional.

Slowly things began to come back together.

The biggest shift wasn’t just physical.

She started caring less about the number on the scale and more about how she felt in her body.

And that’s often where real progress begins.

The Hidden Symptoms Women Don’t Always Recognize

Many women come to coaching focused on physical symptoms.

But there is often an emotional and psychological layer that catches them off guard.

Midlife can bring feelings like:

  • loss of confidence
  • feeling disconnected from yourself
  • grief for earlier phases of life
  • frustration that your body doesn’t respond the way it used to

I see this a lot.

Women miss the jeans they wore at 29.
They miss their long dark hair (I can relate to that one myself).

There can be a quiet sense of grieving a version of yourself that feels like it’s slipping away.

But something powerful happens when women shift their perspective.

Instead of looking backward, we start looking forward.

What do we want these post-menopausal decades to look like?

Because the reality is, many women will spend 30 to 40 years in this stage of life.

That’s not an ending.

It’s a long, meaningful chapter.

And we can absolutely train and live for it.

Why Menopause Coaching Is Different

Doctors, dietitians, and trainers all play important roles.

But menopause coaching fills a different gap.

What many women need most is someone who can see the whole picture.

When I work with clients, I’m looking at:

  • nutrition
  • strength training
  • sleep
  • stress
  • mindset
  • daily habits
  • life circumstances

It gives me a bird’s-eye view of how all these pieces fit together.

Sometimes my role is helping a woman push herself a little more.

Other times it’s helping her realize she needs to be more gentle with herself.

That kind of support is hard to get when care is delivered through a single narrow lens.

The Real Goal

Yes, we often improve symptoms like fatigue, weight gain, mood swings, and sleep.

But the deeper goal is something bigger.

It’s helping women feel:

  • capable
  • strong
  • clear about what their body needs
  • confident about the choices they make

Because midlife isn’t about chasing who we used to be.

It’s about building the foundation for the next several decades of our lives.

And those years can be strong, energized, and vibrant.

Wondering If Menopause Coaching Could Help You?

If you’re feeling tired, frustrated with your body, or unsure what actually works in midlife, you’re not alone.

Many of the women I work with come to me after trying everything: stricter diets, harder workouts, more supplements, more advice.

What they often need isn’t more information.

They need a clear, personalized plan and someone in their corner helping them apply it consistently.
